My Approach
As a therapist, Patrick puts the therapeutic relationship at the forefront. He strives to create a warm and welcoming space where a positive connection with the patient can be made. That alliance serves as a vehicle for change through insight and new experiences within the therapeutic relationship. Patrick’s style is centered around this non-judgemental partnership that honors curiosity about the patient's whole self, and all of their intersections. This includes acknowledging that often our work is done within a system of oppressive social structures. Therefore, he strives to work from a multicultural and anti-racist perspective. He is culturally competent in LGBTQIA issues, trauma-informed, sex positive, and kink positive. His approach is based on the belief that our past relationships, attachments, traumas, and important events inform the present. Patrick will challenge you to look inward to resolve conflicts and will empower you to make decisions based on your discoveries.

About Patrick Mooney
My Experience
Patrick received his Bachelor of Fine Arts in Photography from University of Illinois in Champaign/Urbana. He took a job in the insurance industry shortly after graduating and began his adult life. During that time he continued to explore photography and experienced many of the life events and conflicts that bring people to therapy. He then discovered his passion as a mental health counselor and has received his Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Adler University. During his internship at a local private practice he worked with teens and adults from a diverse array of ethnicities, sexual orientations, cultures, and backgrounds. He is excited to continue his education in the field with a focus on somatic therapy, sex therapy, and complex trauma.
