Jeannette Collier
APRN, PMHNP-BC
My Approach
Jeannette’s treatment philosophy is rooted in a multidimensional, compassionate approach to mental health. She believes that to truly understand a patient, one must first explore the many layers that shape who they are—beginning with their earliest experiences. The first six years of life are foundational to brain development and the formation of the limbic system. Adverse childhood events during this critical period can have a lasting impact on a person’s mental health throughout their lifetime. In her clinical work, Jeannette considers a range of important factors: family history of mental illness, current and past environments, developmental stage, overall functionality, interpersonal dynamics, and stressors—both past and present. This comprehensive assessment allows her to identify potential dysregulation in excitatory or inhibitory neurotransmitters and guide thoughtful medication choices that align with the patient’s specific symptoms and neurochemistry. Jeannette emphasizes that medication is not a cure, but a tool. Psychotropic medications are designed to alleviate the intensity of symptoms just enough so that patients can engage more meaningfully in therapy, where the real healing takes place.
