My Approach
Grace’s therapeutic approach is rooted in cultural competence and patient-centered care. She creates a safe, non-judgmental space that is characterized by warmth and authenticity. Open and collaborative communication is a cornerstone of her practice, ensuring that feedback and dialogue are always welcome. Grace’s natural strengths—empathy, active listening, and unconditional positive regard—are central to her work, helping to build a strong therapeutic alliance. She believes in empowering patients to take an active role in their healing journey, while she provides the tools, support, and guidance needed to help them start and sustain their progress. Her eclectic approach, combined with a trauma-informed perspective, allows her to integrate a variety of evidence-based modalities—including cognitive behavioral therapy, cognitive processing therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, solutions-focused therapy, and family and couple’s therapy. Grace collaborates closely with patients to identify their treatment goals and tailors interventions to align with each individual’s strengths, circumstances, and needs.

About Grace Deien
My Experience
Grace holds a Master of Social Work with a concentration in Clinical Social Work from the University of Missouri, as well as a BA in Psychology with emphases in social justice and multicultural studies. Her hands-on experience spans a variety of settings, including inpatient and outpatient mental health care, hospital social work, community outreach, palliative and hospice care, the Veterans Administration, and the legal system. Her background is primarily focused on severe mental illness (SMI), trauma, and crisis intervention. Grace has worked with a diverse array of populations, including survivors of domestic violence, childhood abuse, and violent crime, as well as individuals with legal involvement, U.S. Veterans and combat veterans, and those experiencing psychosis, mood disorders, personality disorders, and acute or chronic suicidal symptoms. Grace has honed her skills in both acute care and crisis intervention, as well as assisting patients with managing everyday life stressors. She is adept at assessing, diagnosing, and treating mental health concerns across various demographics and settings, from young children to older adults and those at the end of life. Grace excels in building genuine, empathetic relationships with individuals at all stages of life. Her specialties in acute care and trauma equips her to support patients through debilitating symptoms of mental illness, helping them to envision and pursue recovery. Grace is committed to empowering her clients, showing them that recovery is not only possible but achievable.
